Say hi to Dixie Donuts in Richmond, Virginia!
I mentioned in another post that I recently went to Richmond for a day trip on my way down South. What I didn’t mention was that I fell in love. Not only is it a beautiful city with plenty to do but there are also two very fabulous donut shops that are must visit locations for any donut enthusiasts. The first place we went (and my personal favorite of the two) was Dixie Donuts.
Dixie is a perfectly sized shop that just serves up life’s two necessities: donuts & coffee. In addition to the hot & fresh goodies, they sells “Day Old” donuts at 2 for $1 which is a steal. These donuts are fantastic with coffee so don’t be put off by the bargain, it’s legit.
We grabbed a small table outside to enjoy the sunny day and our yummy treats.
While I’m an equal opportunity donut lover, I think deep down that the smaller more manageable donuts are my favorite. Big, fluffy donuts are wonderful but they can also be showstoppers, meaning I can only eat one at a time. I could probably eat a dozen Dixie donuts in a sitting. I love mixing and matching and tasting different flavors.
Next time you’re in Richmond, make it a point to stop in Dixie Donuts.

Oh wow. I’ve lived in Richmond for 19 years and I have never been to this place. It must be down in the Fan/VCU area because I tend to stay away from there. I’ll definitely have to find it and give it a try next time I’m craving donuts! (Which is pretty often.)
It’s right across from the Byrd in Carytown and they even have their own parking lot!
