And now its time for part 2 of our fourth day in Copenhagen. Check out the great food we ate and art we saw.
We continue the day with some tasty food treats. Finally, we made our way to one of Copenhagen’s big food markets – Torvehallerne. Torvehallerne is a huge collection of food and other artisan stands that serve a lot of fresh options both for cooking and eating. I think I took a photo of every single stand in the market but here’s a collection of my favorites:
SO MUCH MEAT 🙂
The market was a great place to people watch. It was full of suits that just left work, caffeine heads in search of liquid pick me ups, families asking what’s for dinner and friends looking to catch up on the day.
Spotted this lovely quote.
Laura’s Bakery provided us with our first fantastic treat –
and we coupled it with the best coffee in Copenhagen from the The Coffee Collective.
Read all about my thoughts on the shop in this Coffee Break post.
We also ate some cod-cake like fish & a Tuna sandwich. Very, very good.
After we filled up, we decided to head over to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The museum was a must see option for me when I was putting together a To-Do list. The museum is a little bit outside of the city but thankfully, its open late.
Modern art is many things but boring is not one of them. The museum was incredible.
Yayoi Kusama was the featured exhibition artist. Here’s an excerpt from the museum’s website about her:
“Based in Tokyo, Kusama (b. 1929) has gained world fame in recent decades for her universe of brightly colored, sprawling patterns covering the surfaces of paintings and sculptures and spreading across entire rooms. In the center of this boundless visual universe stands Kusama herself, often wearing patterned clothes that make her blend in with her art.”
Trippy is an understatement.
This next room was a collaborative art piece – when you entered you were given a selection of stickers to place anywhere in the room.
There’s Jason’s two yellow stickers in the middle.
I loved this room with the large inflatable installations.
Submersion art and mirror images played a huge role in the exhibit.
More of the museum:
The outside of the museum has gorgeous landscaping and a sculpture garden but it was fairly dark by the time we were there. We did snap some pics of this neat outdoor installation project.
After we spent hours at the museum we were so ready to get back to our place. But when we got back into central Copenhagen we somehow got distracted and bought a bunch of candy.
THEN we went to bed.
Check back tomorrow for more of our trip!
