Eurotrip Day 13 – London, England: The Breakfast Club, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and More

Posted on March 21, 2016 by Lindsay

Our second full day in London was jam packed with activities. Over the next few posts you can check out the whole experience but first, let’s start where we always do…

Jason and I met up with Rob & Jess for our first cup of coffee courtesy of the Department of Coffee & Social Affairs which is the greatest name for a coffee shop, ever.

Then we had to have our coffee with a pre-breakfast snack, so off we went to Crosstown Doughnuts – my first donut in Europe! You can see more of Crosstown in an upcoming Donut Time post.

It turned out to be a solid bet getting donuts before breakfast because our chosen eatery for the morning – The Breakfast Club – seemed to be everyone else’s choice as well. After a sizable wait, we were ready for food.

Everyone ordered a different option, all turning out to be solid choices.

After breakfast, our goal for the day was to take in the tourist areas and sightseeing as we had a lot of events and meetups planned for the rest of the trip. First we strolled around the corner and checked out the fancy Savile Row – full of very expensive custom tailoring shops. I wanted to get a glimpse of the shop featured in the movie Kingsman: The Secret Service.

On our way to our next sightseeing location, I couldn’t resist these Donut Peaches.

We also stopped in a nearby hipster shop for some juice to take with us on our stroll through the park.

We stopped to snap some photos at the Horse Guards Parade – mainly because it looked like an area we should be taking photos. I had no idea where we were at the time but Jason insisted to take a look around:

Next up on the tourist map was Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster. One of the biggest tourist attractions in the world and once you see it in person, the building and tower really are quite striking.

I really loved all of the detail throughout the buildings architecture.

Fun fact: after Jason saw this picture of himself he set a world record for laughing.

The palace itself was also very lovely.

The last sightseeing stop of the day was Buckingham Palace. This was my least favorite place we visited but the Palace grounds did have some badass gates.

We checked a lot off our list this day and we still had more to go. We exited through the park and headed to our next event.

More on that later 🙂 …

How lucky were we to be there on such a gorgeous day? The sky looks so beautiful! I’m feeling all sorts of nostalgia right now and can’t wait to see the rest of the trip documented!
