My apologies that last week’s photo recap is so late! I have to blame Memorial Day Weekend for the delay but I’m still here and I didn’t forget. Take a look at what I’ve been up to.
MONDAY
The week started off busy and boring, like most Mondays. Ellie was so over my household chores.
Earlier at work I spotted a small broken egg in the parking lot. A bit sad but the egg is so delicate and beautiful.
TUESDAY
I decided to cut my bangs short and I might be addicted. They grow so fast that I might as well keep trimming them higher. I’m slowly making my way to a more severe trim.
Bean is still working on her “STAY” command. I bribe her with treats to take photos and I think she is starting to warm up to the camera.
This photo just puts the biggest smile on my face. I love these two.
WEDNESDAY
It was really warm out Wednesday so it was time to bust out my work skirts.
I also focused a lot on Macro photography this week. My camera does a surprisingly great job capturing closeups with minimal adjustments.
I often find some super classy photo ops on my daily dog walks. Ellie thought this grocery cart was some sort of animal foe.
THURSDAY
More Macro shots on Thursday as the weather continued to hold up. I love these bee photos.
Ended the night with some delicious sushi before getting weekend camping supplies. Note to self: work more with macro photography using indoor lighting.
FRIDAY
The 4 day weekend is here! Jess, Rob, Jason and I were headed to Michaux State Forest for a weekend of camping and I was pumped! After work, we spent a little time prepping and doing a bit of last minute packing. Then we were off!
When we first arrived at the park, we spotted a small pile of bones off to the side of the parking lot. Bones of indeterminate origins…
We got to our campsite with just enough time to set up our tents and eat some kickass burgers over a fire.
SATURDAY
Ellie was so damn excited ever since she arrived that she woke me up at the buttcrack of dawn on Saturday super ready to explore. How can you say no to that face?
But first, breakfast. Jason is an amazing campfire cook.
We always seem to try different coffee brew methods when we camp. For this trip we used these coffee bags that worked just like tea bags! I didn’t know these things existed but they worked like a charm.
After food, it was time for our first hike of the trip around Long Pine Run Reservoir.
There were some truly beautiful views along the water.
We stopped to cool off in the water and hiked again until sunset.
We had such a great first day camping.
SUNDAY
Ellie slept like a rock into Sunday but woke me up pretty early for her bathroom break. With sunrise views like this it was hard to complain.
We went back to bed and a few hours later we were ready!
Delicious oatmeal and dried fruit started my day off right.
Our next hike was to the very steep top of Pole Steeple. The hike is totally worth it for the amazing views.
Ellie is the Queen of the Mountain.
For our next hike we decided to incorporate part of the Appalachian Trail. We ended up hiking what turned out to be the exact halfway mark of the trail.
Our first trail section was mostly flat and easy going.
But the second half of the hike was through rocky boulders! Jason was very excited and Ellie thought she was a mountain goat for a while.
The weekend overall was so much fun. I loved the park and our hikes. I’ll post a big trip recap post with all of the photos soon enough.
What was the highlight of your week?

I’m kinda envious of your hike route if only due to how much it reminds me of “Moonrise Kingdom” around here it’s mainly moorland for the hike route, so a lot of big ass tors, granite and sheep. More locally we have the woods like the Forest of Baer which are maintained by the forestry commission and good for day hikes but nothing like what you’ve got clearly.
I had to look up what moorland was and it said “an extensive area of moor.” hahaha
Maryland is fairly flat as well but Pennsylvania & West Virginia have a lot of great terrain.
Looks awesome! I remember asking Jason for skillet advice! There are coffee bags??? I must have some.
He loves that damn skillet (which is def not me complaining)
& Yes! Jess spotted them at the grocery store and I was like what the hell is this magic? It struck me as odd that none of us had ever seen them before.
