Weekly Photo Recap: Poolside and Harper’s Ferry

Posted on August 1, 2016 by Lindsay

This week in photos is a rather strange mix of colors with not a lot of variation. Jason took a lot of the photos in this recap (which sort of defeats the purpose) but that’s okay because I feel like I don’t have many photos of myself. Here we go…

We spent a lot of time in the pool this week and we looked forward to camping over the weekend. Our plans had to change again for the camping trip but we made the most of the sunny weather while it was here.

MONDAY

Rain was looming in the area Monday evening but it was so damn hot out that we wanted to go for a swim. I had Jason take the photos this day much to his delight. When Jason uses my camera he thinks he’s a professional photographer and snaps hundreds of photos in the matter of minutes (not an exaggeration.) He kind of loves it though, and he’s adorable so I let him get away with it.

Oh and we picked up a new pool float that I’m clearly very excited about 😀

Ellie liked it too!

TUESDAY

This was the most uneventful day of the week. I caught up on a few blogging to-do list items and later in the evening Jason and I went to see Star Trek Beyond. It was receiving solid buzz and I enjoyed the first two films in the franchise a great deal but this one wasn’t doing anything for me. I didn’t dislike it but nothing to win me over either.

WEDNESDAY

We went back to the pool mid-week, this time in the sun. Jason wanted to get some more photos so I let him have it.

WEEK-25JUL2016-08

I can’t tell if he has a good eye or just shoots so many photos that there’s bound to be good shots? Honestly, the latter is sort of my travel photography mantra so I can’t fault him.

THURSDAY

Jason is in a kickball league on Thursdays so I get to be alone and productive all evening. I had a really relaxing night in and treated myself to an after dinner snack of a Peanut Butter and Jelly Waffle.

FRIDAY

The forecast called for severe thunderstorms all weekend in the area we had planned to go camping so for the second weekend in a row we postponed to the trip. We were both pretty bummed out about it but decided we would take advantage of the time at home to hit up this month’s Baltimore Bike Party. I’ve recapped a BBP before in this post so check it out if you’re wondering what I’m talking about.

This month’s party theme was Beach Party!

WEEK-25JUL2016-11

The after party was at Lexinton Market and we enjoyed dinner from the Main food vendor, Connie’s Chicken and Waffles.

WEEK-25JUL2016-13

After the party we met friends for drinks at a bar and somehow made it back to the car without my sad legs not falling off.

SATURDAY

We slept in so late because of bike party that we just left the house right after breakfast. We made our way to the swimming pool again but as the clouds moved in so did we.

WEEK-25JUL2016-09

Later in the evening we saw Nerve which I’m guessing will be the most underrated movie of the year. My buddy Nate has a great review up on my other blog.

SUNDAY

Trying to salvage the remnants of our camping vibes, we decided that we would go out for an early hike on Sunday. My dad, Jason and I took the dogs up to Harper’s Ferry early Sunday morning. Once we got there, we met up with two of our friends for the hike. I was loving the overcast, foggy hills in the distance.

WEEK-25JUL2016-15

I’ve never actually been to Harper’s Ferry despite it being a major outdoorsy attraction in the area.

WEEK-25JUL2016-16

The scenery was nice and the dog’s enjoyed playing in the streams and rivers. By mid-day the sun came back out and was in full force.

WEEK-25JUL2016-20

After hiking our trail we stopped off in the town to grab a quick lunch and more importantly, ice cream.

WEEK-25JUL2016-21

Harper’s Ferry was scenic and I could see how it would be especially nice to go tubing along the river. Since it is such a big tourist destination it was a bit crowded closer to the main attractions. I would love to keep exploring the area and see more trails. If I went back, I’d try to make it during the week or off season and make sure I brought a swimsuit!

What was the highlight of your week?

I love hiking Harpers Ferry, and that pool looks mighty inviting with all the heat we’ve been getting lately! Great shots!
The highlight of my week was probably a day trip to Annapolis yesterday, we had great weather until the very end!

Thanks for reading! Yeah the weather was a little unforgiving this week so I’m glad I had a few chances to cool off.
I just checked out your blog and see that you’re in DC, love it! Added you to my reader.

What a lovely week!! Ahhh spending time in the pool, how amazing!
Your dog is really sweet, and like mine, apparently also loves water!
Jason is a great photographer though, I also loved the one of you, your dog and the doughnut 😉
