I made the most of my week by strategically planning time to work on projects while also scheduling fun stuff to do over the weekend. You’d be amazed at what you can get done when you wake up before noon.
This past week was a blur. All of the days sort of melted together. Let’s try and recap:
MONDAY
It was a rainy day so not much happened outside the usual podcast recording. Earlier, on Ellie’s midday walk, I took a picture of these giant mushrooms because…I don’t know but I had never seen them before. I guess they warranted a slight eyebrow raise but I don’t know if I really needed to document them in photo form.
Ellie was like “Seriously? Let’s roll.”
TUESDAY
I failed to meal plan this week so I needed to make a quick stop at the grocery store before work. Lucky for me, they had just freshly baked the morning batch of donuts.
So damn good. They were still warm too mmmmmm
WEDNESDAY
I took Ellie over my parents house to swim almost every day this week. She’s kind of a swimming maniac and loves jumping off the pier into the water. I tried my best to get a good action shot.
She just goes for it, full on under water submersion.
Her and Cosmo have gotten so good at swimming that they take their tag games to the water, swimming and chasing each other via doggy paddle.
Bean is so cute when she’s wet 🙂
THURSDAY
We celebrated my Dad’s birthday early by picking up some absolutely delicious steamed crabs. I was very pleased that my first batch of the season was a good one.
FRIDAY
It was time again for Hamilton First Friday, and my favorite coffee shop – Zeke’s – was having an ice cream social. We shared an iced coffee and an ice cream sandwich before dinner because we are ADVENTURE SEEKERS, people. Rebel is my middle name.
For dinner we ate at the nearby farm to table restaurant – Maggie’s Farm. To kick things off we order brussels sprouts (our favorite) and the special for the evening, duck prosciutto (*currently drooling*)
We headed back home after dinner to relax and watch a movie. We had a long day ahead of us that started with an early morning.
SATURDAY
Jason and I headed out around 7am which is early for me and unheard of for Jason. Our motivator? Jason was meeting a friend to mountain bike. Oh and I insisted we make time to knock off a Baltimore donut spot.
We agreed upon Diablo Doughnuts in Fell’s Point. It’s fairly new and like a lot of donut spots, is only open in the mornings.
The donuts themselves were incredible. I’ll have a full Donut Time post up about Diablo soon but here’s your teaser pic for now:
After spending equal parts admiring and eating the donuts, we headed over to Rockburn Branch Park. Rockburn has a “skills park” section for mountain bikers which looked really cool. I explored the trails with the dog.
I love waking up early and feeling productive. I also really enjoy using my weekend time to catch up on sleep though. Still, making an effort to get out of the house in the morning has it’s perks.
We headed home after the park to relax for a while. Ellie was pretty tired (it was a hot day) so we snuggled on the couch and watched a movie.
Later in the afternoon, we headed out to one of our favorite events. It was the Summer Beer Release party for our friend’s beer company Bukwas Brewing! Jason picked up one of their awesome t-shirts.
These beautiful ladies were struggling to snap a group selfie with their phone so I took a pic from them the old fashioned way 😉
And here’s the dudes behind the brews!
They asked if I could take a picture of them doing this “signature pose.” I still have no clue what it is.
After the party, Jess & Rob joined Jason and I in Hampden for an outdoor showing of Scream. We stopped off at The Charmery – a staple Baltimore ice cream spot that I’ve never been to! I went with the Otterbein Sugar Cookie
and Baklava flavors. Both were fantastic. I love the way the cone wraps around the ice cream and lets you choose whether you want to scoop or lick.
It was a long day. We were definitely ready to pass out when we got back home.
SUNDAY
I took the dog out swimming again midday. It was super relaxing.
Saturday was so jam packed, I spend the majority of the next day catching up on household chores. Since the start of the year I’ve been trying to slowly get rid of a lot of crap that I’ve accumulated. Clothes, dishes, paper, craft supplies, etc. I’m trying to hop on that minimalist bandwagon and leave all my stuff in the wind. I’ve been able to ditch a lot so far but I’m still amazed at how much more there is to go through. One of my major goals for the month is to get down to a capsule wardrobe of about 20-40 pieces. We’ll see!
What was the highlight of your week?

Loved reading your post. I’m thinking what was the highlight of my week – nothing significant. Had a crazy busy day at work, lots of self-introspection and I spent most of Sunday shooting for three of my food posts.
Those are most weeks aren’t they? Just busy getting stuff done. You reminded me to schedule some photos shoots this week!
I love all your photos and now I want a donut.
I wish donuts weren’t so photogenic AND tasty.
Did you ever find out what that signature pose is all about? 🙂 Great donut choices!
Nope. Seemed like some insider info I was not privy to lol
