Happy Halloween 2016!

Posted on November 3, 2016 by Lindsay

I’m super bummed out that my favorite holiday of the year is already over. Halloween season is always too short and this year was no exception. Over the weekend, Jason and I visited Austin, TX to celebrate Halloween and we both had a great time. You can check out some photos of our costumes below!

Normally, we celebrate Halloween with friends so I will admit that I missed seeing everyone. (Definitely checked Facebook/Instagram more than a few times that night hoping to see everyone’s costumes.) Jason and I played a running game all weekend by making strangers costumes compete for various “Best Of” categories. (Final Results- Best Group Costume went to a Mad Max crew with an amazing female Immortan Joe, Best Couples Costume went to a particularly well put together Forest Gump + Jenny, and Best Overall Costume? Obviously David S. Pumpkins. Any questions?)

ANYWAYS, I take dressing up pretty seriously. This year I was all set to be Log Lady from Twin Peaks. Like ALL SET, I had everything. But when I checked the weather again for Austin, I realized that the formally projected 70 degree highs had now turned into close to 90 degree highs. There was no way I could make it in all of the layers involved to pull off a proper Log Lady ensemble. Jason was prepped to be Dale Cooper so I looked into the other Twin Peaks characters. Fortunately, I had everything I needed to make a fairly convincing Audrey costume.

UNITED STATES - DECEMBER 12: TWIN PEAKS - Gallery - Season One - 12/12/89, Homecoming queen Laura Palmer is found dead, washed up on a riverbank wrapped in plastic sheeting. FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLaughlin) is called in to investigate the gruesome murder in the small Northwestern town of Twin Peaks. At the end of the day, everything worked out great. Jason was doing a great impression of Agent Cooper and I didn’t die from heat exhaustion in my costume. We even had someone recognize/compliment us so I think that counts as a successful Halloween.

Here’s some of the pics we snapped before our night out:

In hindsight, I wish I had time to die my hair and pin it up to make it shorter. At least I have everything I need for Log Lady next year!

That’s all, folks. I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

How did you celebrate Halloween?
