Say hey to Baked & Wired
in Washington DC!

B&W is a small bakery and coffee shop (you know BAKED and WIRED…YOU GET IT?) located in the heart of Georgetown in Washington DC. The nation’s capital is known to have a wonderful variation of cuisines and thanks to the Food Channel – cupcakes. Georgetown Cupcakes, which became famous from the TV show DC Cupcakes, put the city on the map for their delicious baked goods and made normal people everywhere wonder where cream cheese icing had been hiding all their life. In addition to Georgetown Cupcakes, DC is also home to another fabulous cupcake haven – Baked & Wired.

If you are interested in cupcakes, be prepared to wait in a line around the block. It might look intimidating but the line moves quickly and I doubt you will be disappointed with your treats. Pro tip: head over to the right side of the building first to wait in a much smaller line for your coffee. Then you can sip while you wait.

Once inside, you’ll see that Baked & Wired has a totally opposite vibe than their Georgetown Cupcake counterpart. They are the goofy, off-color cousins, much more concerned with flavor profiles than icing perfection.

The goodies are set up in a long line of visual overload. We went for cupcakes but it was temping to try just about everything they were offering in the store.

Just take a look at some of these flavors; how do you even begin to choose??

We made our selections and headed outside for a tasting party.

It’s like a YouTube unboxing but so much more satisfying. Let’s look at what we got:

First up – Razmanian Devil (Lemon cake filled with raspberry jam and topped with a swirl of lemon buttercream)

The Texas Sheetcake (Chocolate cake with a hint of cinnamon. Chocolate-pecan frosting that oozes into the cake to make a praline-like topping.)

& I couldn’t fake this name if I tried, the Uniporn & Rainho (Vanilla cake with heart confetti mixed into the batter and topped with cream cheese icing. Think funfetti but better)

And my personal favorite – Pretty Bitchin’ (Chocolate cake with a crunchy peanut butter frosting)

The super tasty treats were well worth the 15 minute wait. I’d highly suggest a visit if you’re into that sorta thing. Oh and the coffee was pretty good too 😉
