Weekly Photo Recap: Renovation

Posted on August 7, 2017 by Lindsay

What a week! There is a lot to unfold in this week’s recap so let’s get things going.

THE WEEK OF JULY 31, 2017

MONDAY

In preparation for a busy week ahead, I grabbed a couple simple lunch meals from the grocery store since I had no time to really do meal prep myself. I tried out these Mann’s Nourish Bowls on a whim and I absolutely loved them! I definitely think I’ll be picking them up again for future lunch meals.

Jason and I spent the rest of the evening continuing with the packing and cleaning saga.

TUESDAY

So guess what happened on Tuesday? We finally bought a house! After over a year and a half of searching for a property that fit our profile we finally made it through the entire settlement process. Lots of reality set in followed by tons of excitement! We are looking forward to completely renovating our new place so we wanted to get busy ASAP!

Immediately after getting our keys Jason got to work on removing the old carpet on the second floor.

WEDNESDAY

The kitchen is the biggest project in the house and we were more than happy to pull down the drop ceiling.

We ate a quick and easy dinner courtesy of Sakura Teppanyaki and then headed back to pack some more.

THURSDAY

Thursday evening we tidied up the house in preparation for demo work and mapped out our master plan for renovation projects.

FRIDAY

We removed some plaster around a kitchen window that we are having re-framed and got our first taste of the demolition process.

That night we kicked back with friends – first a meal at Hilo and later checking out live music at the 13.5% Wine bar.

SATURDAY

I have never seen Jason so excited to wake up early. We had a ton of errands to run in the morning and later Jason’s dad came over to help out with a few projects including starting to remove the cabinets and plaster on one of the kitchen walls.

Quick stop off for lunch at By the Docks, don’t mind if I do.

After running a few MORE errands, Jason and I got to work taking down the plaster in order to expose the beautiful brick wall. I was kind of digging the old wallpaper peaking through the layers of paint.

We ended the night with about 80% of the plaster removed and we were feeling pretty great about the process.

SUNDAY

Jason and I split up Sunday morning so I could keep packing and he could continue some demo work. All the plaster is gone from the kitchen wall where we want to expose the brick! The brick looks so good, we can’t wait to completely clean it up and finish the whole process.

I met up at the new place later in the day to finish removing the other damaged kitchen wall and get it ready for new drywall. Jason worked on getting the basement in order while his Aunt took on the thankless job of picking out all of the carpet staples!

It was getting late so we cleaned up for the day, feeling good about everything we were able to accomplish. We met up with the usual crew for our weekly Twin Peaks watch party and Marc and his sister surprised us with the greatest treat ever…CRONUTS BAKED FROM SCRATCH!

AND YES, THEY TASTED AS GOOD AS THEY LOOKED!!!

And of course, the perfect end to the week of hard work and cronuts was this adorable little face ready to cuddle up.

What was the highlight of your week?

So excited to see you guys finally get into a house where you can renovate & execute your vision! I know it’s going to be so great and a new fun place to hang. I need to get my butt over there to see it in person ASAP.

Also, I was eyeing up those nourish bowls recently and now that I have some positive feedback I’m going to have to pick some up to try myself.

๐Ÿ˜€ I hope we finish renovating sometime this century!

& Yes! The nourish bowls really surprised me. I tried the cauli-rice curry and southwest chipotle and like both a lot.
