Goals His & Hers

His & Hers: Goals for August 2017

We have some major things happening this month. Here are some of our goals we hope to help keep us on track.

LINDSAY’S GOALS

LAST MONTH:

CURATE MY RSS FEED:

Action: Follow and comment on 5 new blogs and 5 old blogs.

Sort of? Basically I spent all month curating blogs (and I’m still going!) but I didn’t comment on as many as I was supposed to. I’m going to try and keep up a steady effort to get this done in the coming weeks.

FOCUS ON PODCASTING

Action: Finish recording 2nd Season of Sorry in Advance and finish prep for FTS 300th episode.

Unfortunately, this looks like it is going to go on the back burner until I have a functioning podcast room!

PAY ATTENTION TO MY BODY:

Action: Schedule time to exercise every week and cook at least 3 meals a week.

OMG no, that goal was a spectacular failure. I made a lot of empty promises but since we have started packing for our move I have not done any meal prep.

AUGUST 2017:

CREATE A HOME INVENTORY

Action: Fill in an inventory with important household items and pantry food.

This might sound super weird but while prepping for this move, I’ve been looking forward to putting together a household items inventory. I want to put a list together of major items with important info to keep track of. I’d also like to have a current list of items in our pantry in hopes that it would be helpful at the grocery store.

TRIP PREP

Action: Finish planning for September’s trip to Europe.

I fully expect that I will be busy doing this until we actually leave next month but a girl can dream (and/or delude herself into thinking anything is possible as long as you write it in a blog post.)

GET SOME SLEEP

Action: Pay attention to my bed time and shut off the TV at least an hour beforehand.

This is super hard for me for a variety of reasons but I need to be strict and focus on this. Being a walking zombie isn’t going to help me get anything done.

JASON’S GOALS

Last Month:

Mountain bike!

Action: Manual for 30 seconds on the Mountain bike.

Failed, with all the things going on for the house and closing I have not had very much time to focus on my biking skills.

Get back into climbing regularly

Action: Send some V6’s

Close, I have gotten back to some more climbing days but still sporadic. Getting V5’s again isn’t so hard, V6’s here I come!

Buy a house

Action: Finalize terms of a house contract (or figure our Plan B!)

Accomplished! Finally! – More to come 🙂

AUGUST 2017:

Mountain bike!

Action: Ride a new trail.

This will be tough due to the second goal I have set for August but I need to get some stress out and hit up some trails!

Demolition!

Action: Finish demo work and clean up on the new home.

We have a ton of plaster and other building materials to remove from the new house before we even think about installing updates. Getting this out of the way before moving in is essential!

Work with contractors!

Action: Finish major reno work to be done by contractors before the end of the month.

Unfortunately (but not unexpectedly!) we have a few home projects to take care of that we just are not qualified to fix ourselves. It looks like we are on track to have the necessary contractors out to take care of these issues before the end of the month – fingers crossed!

JOINT GOALS: JUNE 2017

LAST MONTH:

GET RID OF SOME JUNK!

Action: Remove at least one major piece of unnecessary furniture/gear.

SO MUCH YES, thanks to our move. Damn it is feeling great!!

FINISH TRIP PLANNING

Action: Book last miscellaneous in between transportation for Europe and lodging.

We are a couple days late but finally finished the booking. We are so glad to get the out of the way finally.

AUGUST 2017:

MOVE!

Action: Organize, purge and transfer all of our stuff to our new place.

Considering we won’t be able to occupy our current place in a few weeks makes this more of a necessity, no? Thankfully we have a pretty organized moving plan that we’ve been sticking to.

RENOVATE!

Action: Outline necessary renovation projects for the new house and come up with budgets/timelines.

We have an overarching plan and budget that we are hoping to fine tune each week so we stay focused and productive.

GET OUTSIDE!

Action: Plan a short hike/outdoor activity.

Both of us have been itching to go on a camping trip even though that doesn’t seem likely given the current tasks at hand. We will definitely have to settle on a day hike or trip in the very near future.
