His & Hers: Goals for September 2017

Posted on September 14, 2017 by Lindsay

Fall is fast approaching and here we are with another (late) edition of our monthly goals.

LINDSAY’S GOALS

LAST MONTH:

CREATE A HOME INVENTORY:

Action: Fill in an inventory with important household items and pantry food.

I was able to make a comprehensive list of household items but I didn’t get enough time to create a food inventory. Maybe sometime in the future though!

TRIP PREP

Action: Finish planning for September’s trip to Europe.

This is done for the most part. Ashamed to say that I still have to finalize some stuff but yeah, this is pretty much finished up.

GET SOME SLEEP

Action: Pay attention to my bed time and shut off the TV at least an hour beforehand.

I had a few notably exhausting days (namely on moving weekend) but otherwise I think I did a good job with this one.

SEPTEMBER 2017:

HAVE SOME FUN!

Action: Make sure I don’t overbook priorities!

I’m trying to wrap up some loose ends so that I can enjoy my upcoming vacation and other fun September events!

BUY STUFF

Action: Finish purchases for dumb stuff lingering in my “To Buy” list.

Since the move, I have left a few necessary random household items in limbo and I want to just get all that stuff taken care of ASAP.

GET ORGANIZED!

Action: Restructure various to-do lists and scedules.

I have been doing a good job keeping organized during the move but now that it is over I need to check back in with my daily tasks and figure out how to restructure everything.

JASON’S GOALS

Last Month:

Mountain bike!

Action: Ride a new trail.

Unfortunately, I did not get to accomplish this goal with the house renovation work. I may not have very much time to mountain bike in the near future but hopefully I’ll have time to get outside soon.

Demolition!

Action: Finish demo work and clean up on the new home.

Accomplished! There are still a few things to tidy up here and there but we finished everything we needed to get done and more. Now on to more projects.

Work with contractors!

Action: Finish major reno work to be done by contractors before the end of the month.

Success! I was also able to do more things on my own than initially anticipated!

SEPTEMBER 2017:

BASEMENT!

Action: Finish 3 basement projects from the renovation to-do list.

There are a handful of projects I’m trying to get done but I want to prioritize this area.

BIKE!

Action: Bike to work for at least 3 days.

So far, I love biking to work from the new place. I hope to make it a regular thing.

BUY A FRIDGE

Action: Finish one of the major kitchen purchases and buy a fridge!

Self explanatory!

JOINT GOALS: JUNE 2017

LAST MONTH:

MOVE!

Action: Organize, purge and transfer all of our stuff to our new place.

WITH INTENSE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY we were able to totally ace this goal!

RENOVATE!

Action: Outline necessary renovation projects for the new house and come up with budgets/timelines.

We are both feeling good about the renovation progress that we are making so far! The timelines and to-do tasks are constantly being updating and evolving to meet our needs but it’s all pretty exciting in a good way.

GET OUTSIDE!

Action: Plan a short hike/outdoor activity.

We didn’t technically plan any day trips but we spent a lot of time exploring new green spaces around our new neighborhood so I’m counting this down as a win!

SEPTEMBER 2017:

DEADLINES!

Action: Apply deadline periods to our renovation goals.

Time to prioritize and focus!

DESIGN!

Action: Finish design plans for kitchen.

The two toughest rooms in the house require a LOT of planning. We are pretty close to getting the design plans finished up but “pretty close” doesn’t cut it.

ENJOY OUR VACATION!

Action: Have a blast at Oktoberfest and our bf’s wedding in Bournemouth!!

We are so excited to break up our routine and spend time with a bunch of our amazing friends!
