The last week in April was busy and productive. Here’s the standard photo recap.
THE WEEK OF APRIL 24th, 2017
MONDAY
I’ve been off and on with meal planning this past month so I needed a big shift to healthier foods this week. Soups and salads dominated this week’s lunch options.
I accidentally kept up with “Meatless Monday” at dinner time with a quick chickpea and broccoli curry.
TUESDAY
The weather wasn’t great but Jason and I had an exciting Tuesday. We were honored to get the opportunity to tour Mobtown Fermentation the makers of Wild Kombucha!
Wild Kombucha is one of Jason’s favorites and the tasty beverage is brewed right here in Baltimore. We met with the founders to learn more about their fermentation process and what plans they had in store for the future. We’ll have a whole post up soon about the experience and what you can expect to see from the company in the coming months. (If you want to check out the drink for yourself – something I highly recommend – click here to find a store near you.)
WEDNESDAY
I met up with my Dad after work for a dog play date and he took me to a cool new secret spot. I only had my cell phone at the time but couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures.
For dinner, I made a black bean penne pasta for the first time and it wasn’t bad! It would actually be perfect for some type of Southwest chili or pasta salad so I’ll probably whip some up for a future meal plan.
THURSDAY
My latest thrift finds included a few small Agatha Christie paperbacks I found at a huge book sale. How appropriate is it to take a week off work just to lay around and read murder mystery novels?
FRIDAY
The whole weekend was jam-packed and Friday kicked everything off. After a very busy day at work, Jason and I rushed downtown to meet with some friends for a monthly food truck meetup called The Gathering.
This month’s food truck assemblage was downtown at Harbor Point. The area has recently been under development and it was my first time checking it out. The views weren’t half bad.
We ended up eating at Gypsy Queen Cafe – which is always a solid choice.
I enjoyed the curried falafel and Jason went with the popular crab cone.
After we spent a bit of time at The Gathering, we moved on to Baltimore Bike Party! We didn’t have a lot of time to take part in the ride but we did find ourselves at the after party at Mount Vernon Marketplace.
Baltimore Bike Party was celebrating their 5th Year Anniversary!
My favorite part of the night is (unsurprisingly) getting our group picture taken! The photos below come courtesy of Side A Photography + the Baltimore Bike Party Facebook page.
Always a good time!
SATURDAY
I woke up at a respectable time on Saturday to get some blog posts finished up. Later, Jason and I met up with Jess and Rob for a hike on a new trail at Patapsco Valley State Park. Check out this cool snake Jess spotted on the trail –
Jason spent the day mountain biking and asked me to take a few pictures of him despite my unpreparedness.
The trail was very cool and rewarding but we ended up on the hike for much longer than we initially anticipated. We had to bolt home to get ready for our evening plans.
We ate dinner at R. House and I couldn’t resist the BRD.
After dinner, a few friends and I headed over to the Ottobar for the Society of Excellent Women‘s Dance Party event! It was a night of delicious drinks, great music and so much dancing. We drank too much and partied hard on the dance floor and it was A BLAST!!
Check out my little alien drink mascot –
A special thanks to Jess, Julia and Melissa (and the not pictured Julie!) for an amazing night! Dancing is not usually my thing but I needed no convincing with this group by my side.
SUNDAY
Saturday’s late night definitely had me sleeping in longer than expected. I spent the morning cuddling with Ellie before jumping into household chores and to-do list items. I wish I could have stayed in bed all day.
What was the highlight of your week?
