A little late thanks to some unexpected site maintenance but here we are with another photo recap! Let’s go!
THE WEEK OF MARCH 26th, 2018
MONDAY
The start of the week is almost always the least eventful. We started sleeping in the bedroom (!!!) and I finally got a chance to play with some of the bedding colors.
TUESDAY
Before dinner we stopped into the liquor store and “stocked up.” I picked up a few ciders to try including Samuel Smith’s Organic Perry + Apricot ale, Cobbler Mountain Cider Wild Blackberry Hop and Rekorderlig Wild Berries Cider.
WEDNESDAY
I have been truly enjoying getting back into thrifting for the house. I have been slowly collecting so many cute pieces that I may have to open up an Etsy shop in the near future.
This little print of a Canadian landscape is the sweetest.
THURSDAY
The evening weather was nice for once! Ellie and I had a pleasant walk around the neighborhood at sunset.
FRIDAY
Jason and I had booked a little cabin trip a long time ago and the day was finally here! After work we packed up the car and headed out for a weekend away.
Ellie knew something fun was going on and she was all ready to go with her Camping With Dogs bandana.
We decided to take an unconventional travel route down to the mountains because we figured we would rather spend time seeing some sights than getting stuck in traffic. So we headed West and stopped in Fredrick, MD for dinner. Thanks Black Hog BBQ!
Fredrick is a cute little town I should probably make more time for in the near future.
Then we hit the road and made our way to our cute cabin for the weekend!
SATURDAY
Our little hideaway for the weekend was the cottage at Spindle Hill Farm in Nellysford, VA. The space was one of the most charming and beautifully curated homes I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. I took a lot of photos over the weekend which I’ll post in the full recap in the future. For now, here are some of my favorite shots –
The bedroom space was a cozy place to snuggle in for the night.
Into the main living area –
Around the corner you can see more of the lovely book collection.
Then you walk into the beautiful bathroom.
Up the ladder…
There is another wonderful loft bedroom.
Okay, time for breakfast! Jason cooked up a few tasty farm fresh eggs.
I had a protein-packed snacky breakfast before it was time to head out for our first hike!
On your way out the door, you get a wonderful view of property’s stunning 200+ year old White Oak tree.
The first hike of the day was a steep climb to Humpback Rocks. It’s not a long hike but the steep elevation made me realize how out of shape I was! I think we really need to take time out of the home renovation process to go hiking more often.
Thankfully, the climb was worth it for the views.
It was time for lunch and even Ellie was ready for a break!
After lunch, we were ready for another hike. We set our sights on Spy Rock, another steep climb up for scenic views.
The final rock hike was tricky but our Mountain Goat adventure pup did a great job getting to the top!
The Blue Ridge mountains never looked so good!
What a great day with these two 🙂
After the descent down, we were getting pretty excited for dinner. The three of us headed for the dog-friendly patio at Wild Wolf Brewing Company. Burgers & brews were just what we needed.
Before heading in for the night, we made one last stop at the fantastic little cafe Basic Necessities for something sweet.
SUNDAY
The last day of our trip started at sunrise.
Coffee came courtesy of Trager Brothers Coffee.
Ellie wasn’t ready to leave.
It was time to say goodbye to the cottage and hit the road once again. We took the long way home so we could spend time on the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop for a hike along the way. We stopped off at the Ravens Roost Overlook for a few photos.
We hiked a bit on the Blackrock gap trail and then moved to the Blackrock Summit trail. It was an easy hike but the summit was my favorite from the trip.
Check out this 360 view!
What a fantastic hike!
After Blackrock, we hit the road and headed home the long way.
A long drive feels like a breeze with these views –
We stopped off at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers for a bite.
Ellie really enjoyed her first pup cone.
And just like that, we were back in Baltimore! We weren’t sure we were ready to leave the renovation work and take time off for a trip but it’s true what they say about taking time away to rejuvenate. We felt great at the end of the weekend and are looking forward to (hopefully) better weather and spending more time outdoors.
What was the highlight of your week?

You guys could definitely do it!! I really think we need to go for a hike with the dogs one day soon too!
Yes, definitely!! Can you send me the info for that adorable cabin? 🙂
The cider flavours sound DELISH! :]
