We had fleshed out a few bits of our trip but still needed to decide on specific ways to conquer each day. It was time to do some light planning and what better place to sort through our ideas than at a coffee shop.
Our light breakfast and heavily caffeinated morning came courtesy of Kent Kaffe Laboratorium. This place had fantastic coffee and a very relaxed vibe that made it one of my favorite stops on the trip (read more about this place in my Coffee Break post.)
Jason & I narrowed in on what we wanted to accomplish and randomly decided that we would spend the day in Malmö, Sweden which is only a 40 minute train ride.
Hello Sweden! What’s neat about Malmö is that’s it’ an interesting mix of new and old. It’s a sustainable city that has touches of modern architecture but still mixes in the old town charm.
Neat street art.
For lunch, we were extremely disappointed to find that the only restaurant we wanted to visit in the area was closed. It looks like we’ll have to wait until next time to visit Bastard.
After a long walk of indecision, we finally decided to grab some shawarma.
Bellies full, it was time to see some sights. We didn’t have a checklist in Malmö, instead we opted to start walking and see where we ended up.
I really took a liking to the buildings and architecture here.
The old Town Hall was stunning.
St. Petri Church the oldest church in the city and was built in 1319!
After hitting the streets we stopped in Djäkne Kaffebar for a cup of coffee. This place was attractive but the coffee wasn’t great (it wasn’t hot.) They have great Google reviews though so maybe I caught them on a bad day? Or they didn’t appreciate my Americano order.
After coffee we decided to go check out a park we had seen on our way in. We caught some nice canal views along the way.
Remember that new and old mixture I was talking about. The Maritime University was a great example of that visual clash.
The new jet black building is a true stunner from across the water.
The beautiful park was located along scenic waterways and gardens.
Jason is a happy camper eager to explore the park!
Beautiful hedges and landscaping.
See that windmill in the distance? Let’s get a closer look.
She’s quite a looker.
We took our time walking the park and relaxing our stomachs.
I was smitten with the city. Maybe it was because we spent a lot of time chatting about future travel plans and really soaking in the area but it was a lovely day. After the park we headed back to Copenhagen and had a filling dinner at a buffet style restaurant Dalle Valle. The food was good and the cocktails even better. Then it was time to sleep and get ready for a busy Day 4.
