This day was set to be a little rainy so we decided to knock off a few museums from our checklist. We start the day, of course, getting some coffee and a nice breakfast.
Heritage Coffee & Bikes was our first stop. This was an awesome little coffee shop we just happened upon which showcased two of my personal favorite things, coffee and bikes!
Our next stop was some typical tourist stuff, the University of Copenhagen Geological Museum. I say typical tourist stuff but this place was really cool and right in my wheelhouse (fun fact, I was really into rocks when I was a kid).
The architecture of this building alone is a reason to visit it. They had really cool pantheon-esque ceilings and awesome (geologic) accents!
It has quite the entrance!
How awesome would it be to take a class here!?
Check out these ceilings! It’s like something in an optical illusion book.
There was also a lot of cool things not rock related!
For our next location, we took a walk through The Royal Library Garden.
Then it was on to the Danish Jewish Museum. This place is pretty breath taking. Not only does is cover a very moving subject but the building adds to the awe that you have reading about the history of the Danish Jewish population.
The architecture is just incredible.
And back out through the awesome gardens!
We also got to explore a cool tower, the Christiansborg Palace Tower. Here we took in some breathtaking views of the entirety of the city. You can tell (even with the fog) that the city is really beautiful. There is a lot of uniqueness and color in Copenhagen!
Below you can see Børsen – a historic 17th-century building & former stock exchange with a striking spire shaped as the tails of four dragons twined together.
After the tower it was time for lunch and more fun stuff. Check back tomorrow for Part 2 of the day!
