On Day 15 the Large Association of Movie Blogs meet up in London was in full swing. The day was spent visiting various movie theaters and catching up with all of the bloggers. Welcome to my life as a movie nerd.

Before all of the movie fun went down, I needed my morning fix. Off we went to Southbank Centre Market.

Almost immediately my eyes caught a glimpse of these two glorious signs.

Is there anything more comforting than the smell of coffee beans? Yeah maybe being in a lovers embrace, your mothers womb, whatever – give me coffee.

Cup in hand, it was time to look through the rest of the market. While not nearly as big as Borough Market, Southbank had plenty of sweet and savory options to take in.

It was time to eat and I was ready to head straight passed breakfast and into lunch. There were loads of worthy food options but something in my gut (my hunger probably) told me to look no further than The Frenchie food stand serving up duck confit burgers.

Behold: the most flavorful, decadent and intensely satisfying food I consumed in London. If you are in the area, do not skip the opportunity to consume one of these delightful burgers.

Totally satiated but a glutton for punishment, my body was weary but my mind could not avoid snagging something sweet from the market.

I went with the “Mile High” tart from Outsider Tart. It was so damn good that everyone else at the table decided they would go get themselves one too. Wise choice.

A small group of us had now gathered and we were on our way to check out our first spot of the day. I loved this graffiti skate park we spotted along the way.

We stopped into the BFI which was hosting a film festival at the time. There was a group of people looking much more important than yours truly wandering the lobby with free food and drinks. We blended in and snagged a few snacks before someone caught on to us. Moving along then…

As we headed past the London Eye we figured it would be a good time to take a group shot (the first of many.) I just realized that in my previous posts I failed to name all the lovely bloggers in the photos. Here is me rectifying that!

Everyone was so lovely by the way. I don’t think I expected anything less but the meet up opened me up to bloggers I have known for years as well as a few others that I was just meeting. It was such a nice experience that I’m still in awe that it actually happened.

On our way to the next meet spot we passed through Chinatown but Jack Nicholson was nowhere in sight.

We were meeting a few others at the Curazon for a quick drink.

We were joined once again by Joel Burman and our London host Will from Exploding Helicopter.

After drinks we walked around to a few theaters in the area hoping to decide on a movie to see. There were a ton of places to go but not many options for film. We eventually decided to see MacBeth (how British) at Picturehouse Central (although Tony and I were much more interested in the prospects of the film titled ‘AAAAAAAAH‘)

The theater – like almost all of the other ones I had been to in Europe – was delightful. The Picturehouse was particularly clean and cute.

Oh and the theater had this wall of candy and fucking donuts – no big deal.

The group settled in the comfty theater seats and we were joined by one more blogger David from Blueprint Review (right in front)

After the movie, we spent a few moments in the eating area of the Picturehouse and recorded a podcast episode for the LAMB. If you’re interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on MacBeth, you can find the episode here.

After the movie we went to dinner at Fire & Stone. They specialized in pizza but I really wasn’t feeling the options (I have never seen a pizza menu with so many options topped with potatoes) so I went with pasta. It was a regrettable choice as all of the pizza looked a lot better than my sad noodles but what are you gonna do?

Clearly, this wasn’t about the food – it was about the company. We had a great long table full of friends, including two new additions (in the bottom right) Simon from Screen Insight (+ a bunch of other publications) and his lovely wife Sarah.

After dinner we went out for a few rounds at The Coal Hole which wasn’t nearly as dirty as it sounds. We chatted and debated and dished about movies the way only movie bloggers could. Hopefully, I offended a minimal amount of people during the evening and made a fine last impression on those who attended the meet up. The end of the night came and we were forced to say goodbye to many of the friends we had just made.
