Diablo is a relatively new donut spot in the Baltimore area. Located downtown in the popular Fells Point area, there is no better spot in the city to grab a morning sweet treat and go for a stroll.

On my first visit, I was super eager to get inside the shop.

Inside Diablo is an interesting scene. The previous inhabitant of the space was a pizza shop and a lot of the remnants are still hanging around. I wasn’t entirely convinced that they stopped serving pizza. Decor aside, the shop is hip, a little divey and I totally love it.

After I made my donut selections, I grabbed a cold brew to start the day.

Now let’s crack open the box and check these bad boys out!

Aren’t they some of the most beautiful donuts you’ve ever seen? I took a quick minute before leaving the store to snap photos of the brilliant baked goods. Another customer asked “Are you going to eat any or just take photos of them?” I looked deep into his soul with my icy stare and deadpanned “Oh, I’m going to eat them. I’m going to eat all of them.” Not an entirely true statement as Jason and his friend would help to finish the box off but I think I got my point across.

I was not worthy of these creations. I tried all the inventive flavors and was impressed how well balanced each donut was. Artisan donuts like these tend to go a little overboard with their flavoring but I liked all of the combos from Diablo. Here’s a close look at the flavors I tried:

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but Blueberry Basil turned out to be one of the best donuts.

Sin Crunch is topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, need I say more?

Maple Bacon is a classic.

Unicorn Farts aka Fruity Pebbles made for one of the prettiest donuts.

Gotta get that Espresso donut, duh.

My personal favorite was the Captain Chesapeake (Caramel with Old Bay.) SUCH a good flavor combo.

In conclusion, Diablo is a more than worthy addition to the Fells Point food scene. It gives some of my favorite Baltimore donut shops a run for their money.

If you ever find yourself down in Baltimore early in the morning, do yourself a favor and stop on in Diablo Donuts.
