Making the most out of the shortest day of 2018.
THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 17th, 2018
MONDAY
Getting into the holiday spirit at work with a cup of hot chocolate and festive skirt.
We switched it up and headed to Lowes for a few things & I headed to the lighting department like the moth that I am.
I tried to convince Jason to let me take his portrait but his patience was thin and I was only allowed one quick snapshot.
TUESDAY
After doing a bunch of research and visiting too many stores, we finally decided on a dishwasher. I met up with Jason on lunch to pick up this Bosch beauty! I think it will look great with our white cabinets and countertops.
I picked up some zucchini noodles for lunch that looked super appetizing but definitely do not hold up when compared to the real deal.
I ended the night folding clothes and Ellie decided that they would make the perfect pillow.
WEDNESDAY
On to IKEA for a quick look at countertops – we finally scheduled our measurement appointment (!!) and wanted to revisit the color scheme for the kitchen. We are having a tough time deciding on a stain for our upper shelves and the 100 variations of white quartz and lighting options made it even tougher.
After loosing a package that had one of my Christmas presents, I had to come up with something else to gift. So in a last minute pinch, I decided to use a chunk of our old joist wood to make this cute little air plant holder. It’s very simple but the wood grain is pretty and the Danish Oil gave it a lovely warm color.
THURSDAY
I was able to get all of my Christmas wrapping finished early this year thanks to the decision to only buy bags (a lifesaver!)
I snacked on sushi and finished up earlier than I ever have before. Seriously, yay for bags!
FRIDAY
Coincidentally, we planned a girl’s night on this year’s Winter Solstice – how fitting! We headed to Mount Vernon to hit up some of our favorite bars and restaurants. First up – The Owl Bar. The classiest lobby for a photoshoot.
After dinner, we sauntered over to The Brewer’s Art for a few wonderful cocktails and more stunning interior eye candy.
Mount Vernon is always so enchanting. I need to go back to take photos one day during the daylight (and when I’m sober.)
Our last stop for the night was Sugarvale, the perfect basement bar to finish out the evening.
Again, how cute are these interiors?
Just admiring my vintage dress from Spoiled Rotten Vintage and these glittering, geometric floor tiles.
SATURDAY
I was out of commission most of the day so Jason worked on the house while I stayed under the covers. Eventually, I emerged to eat a cheesesteak and admire my growing collection of plaid sweaters.
That night, I joined my favorite people at Jess & Rob’s house for a night of games, laughs and delicious cookies. This seems like a tradition in the making.
SUNDAY
Good Morning Remington! The Sisson Street Park has been getting a paint facelift and it is looking so good!
We kept breakfast local with some great coffee from Ground & Griddled and tasty donuts from Little Fig Bakeshop.
We wasted no time getting back to work. If anyone has ever pondered what I look like during all of these reno updates, here’s a quick fashion show for ya:
Ellie was enjoying the sunshine during the day and people watching through the window. Once the front living room is finished she will be in for quite the treat.
In the evening, Jason and I met up with his sister and her boyfriend for a night of Also Cocktails at The Bluebird Cocktail Room.
The food portions are too small (get the burger) but the cocktails are nice and the interior is dreamy.
We headed over to the Christmas light display on 34th street but needed to make a quick pit stop at The Charmery for a damn fine hot chocolate.
The “Miracle on 34th Street Light Display” is a small block in Hampden Baltimore that goes all out with decorations during the holidays. I wouldn’t say you need to go out of your way to see it but its a nice walk-through nonetheless.
Jason and I walked home and stopped to snap this pic to cap off a charming night out.
What was the highlight of your week?
